The Client and Request
KOOL is an American brand owned by ITG Brands LLC, that primarily sell menthol and non-menthol cigarettes. I had been tasked with numerous projects for KOOL over the years, ranging from conceptual brainstorming to more tactical executions such as website designs. KOOL and the rest of ITG Brands utilized their own robust design system across all their properties.
Project Highlights
Sound City Sweeps
KOOL asked for assistance in helping to develop their newest campaign called Sound City Sweeps. The idea is users are able to enter to win a trip to one of three cities, each being advertised with their own genre of music relevant to the area: New York City has Hip-Hop, Chicago with House, and Atlanta with Trap music.

Individual city and music genre pages had relevant music artists, videos, and playlists that users could interact with in order to get KOOLCOIN, KOOL’s digital currency used to get coupons and other prizes.

Conclusion and Thoughts
My work with KOOL was always a bit sporadic but I still am thankful for the opportunity. Due to ITG owning so many sub-brands, they were in need of a robust design system. I was given access to the KOOL version of it, and was able to learn a lot on what Figma can offer large scale productions like this. It’s very satisfying coming up with a system or solution that everyone feels is working well, allowing each team to focus on creating their own speciality.
